The Visionary Legacy

Alvin Goodwin founded the Omaha Economic Development Corporation (OEDC) in 1977, where he served as President for over 30 years. Alvin played a pivotal role in the betterment of North Omaha by securing investments in business and safe affordable housing throughout the community.

Among many successful projects, under Alvin's leadership, the nonprofit organization implemented the Kellom Heights Redevelopment Program, secured affordable housing development near 60th and Hartman, restored the Jewell Building (a registered U.S. Historic Landmark), and renovated the old North Omaha Post Office and Jensen Building.

His efforts resulted in nearly $19 million of capital invested in Northeast Omaha and generated $1.6 million in yearly property, payroll, and sales tax revenue.
