The Fair Deal Café…

The construction of the Fair Deal Village MarketPlace (FDVMP) continues to make progress toward the 2016 Fall Opening.  The FDVMP sits on the footprint of the Fair Deal Café, a community favorite eatery “back in the day”.  The FDVMP will have a 1700 square foot fresh produce grocery store, the Fair Deal Café, and ten shipping containers to provide retail space for small businesses. 

Omaha Economic Development Corporation is seeking an experienced food service operator or team to manage and enter into a lease for the culturally focused restaurant, The Fair Deal Café.  The vision for the restaurant includes celebrating the heritage of the African American neighborhood, serving cultural food/soul food with great service.  The restaurant holds the potential to contribute to the economic growth of the FDVMP and the City of Omaha by attracting visitors. 

The FDVMP located at 2118 North 24 Street is a site to provide space for growing businesses with goods and services.  As a condition of the federal grant funding, the FDVMP is required to provide jobs for and hire low income persons and identifying potential employers for this purpose.

The restaurant is approximately 1835 square feet with additional space for patio dining available weather permitting.  The restaurant will seat approximately 70 persons year-round and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening appetizers.  The Fair Deal will also have a bar in the restaurant.  Persons who have an interest in submitting a proposal can contact Terri Sanders, Site manager, tsanders@oedc.info or call 402-504-1842 to receive more information.
